And the World Keeps Spinning


On his latest trip abroad, the anointed one has announced that the USA is not and will never be at war with Islam. (The fact that Islam is at war with us seems to be irrelevant.)

In India, a news woman (Indian) asked him what he thought of jihad. He went into a tortured explanation of the many types of jihad and how some were not as bad as others.

This must have stunned the reporter as well as the rest of the Hindus in India who are subject to ongoing Muslim jihad and suffer fatalities on a daily basis.


Of course, he also said that we need more factories in India to help bring jobs to America. Maybe he means baggers who will bag the made in India products that are sold at Walmart. American jobs indeed.


Speaking of American jobs...the Interior Dept. falsified stats to justify banning offshore oil drilling in the Gulf. Such gangster government is no surprise though. Just ask Gov. Christie of New Jersey who is the subject of a Dept. of Justice witch hunt. Seems the good Governor - six years ago! - paid $2,000 too much for hotel rooms and owes the government the money. As the governor explained last year, he got the cheapest rooms available and had to pay that price, lack of government reimbursement notwithstanding.

Doesn't the DOJ have anything better to do than attack potential rivals to the anointed one?

Like...investigate the Black Panthers for voter intimidation...or decide where to put terrorists on trial?

Meanwhile, the Republicans have taken control of the House and are promising to end earmarks in Congress and further cut spending. Some of the old Republican warhorses in the Senate are not happy and want to continue the pork peddling. Should be a good chance to see who is sincere in trying to curb spending and who the remaining crooks are and then start to plan for the 2012 elections.

On the Road to Perdition

Recently, a church group that is against our involvement in Iraq as well as against homosexuality, has taken to demonstrating at the funerals of servicemen killed overseas.

They shout vile things at the mourners and were taken to court and the case has worked its way up to the Supreme Court which is expected to rule next Spring.



Of course, all the pundits are weighing in on the issue of free speech and just how far one can go under the protection of the Constitution. One can't shout "Fire" in a crowded theatre, so critics of this church group claim such insenitivity and gross insults and singling out of bereaved families constitutes an infringement on the families' privacy.

Free speech advocates claim any restrictions on the church group would have a harrowing effect on all of us and our right to free speech.



What to do? Alas, one would like to think that responsible citizens could take a bar of soap to the potty mouths or perhaps publically whip good manners into them, in this way leaving the constitution out of it. But, we live in a world where common sense and corporeal punishment have been banished.

We have reached this sad point in the life of our former Republic because we have denigrated religion and removed God from public life. We have allowed a vocal and powerful minority to rob us of our Judeo Christian heritage. We have allowed it to happen and we will suffer the consequences, one of which is the loss of common courtesy and public manners which are all to visible in the untoward behavior of the church group in question.


We have forgotten what one of the founding fathers - John Adams - said about our former Rebublic and the Constitution on which that Rebublic rested.

"Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

We are going down the road to perdition and gross behavior and lack of common decency in the public square are just the beginning of the inevitable collapse of our civilization.

In Hoc Signo

Sometimes all we need to know is as easy to see as the nose on our face
And, just as we usually miss our nose thanks to our looking at everything else around us, often we miss the simple truth that calls us to her.
Down the centuries since Christ, mankind has been split between two camps: those who rely on faith and those who rely on reason. For fifteen hundred years faith held sway and for the last five hundred reason, and yet they are not mutually exclusive.
It is reasonable to be faithful to sound reason and, like St. Thomas Aquinas believed, we can use our reason to accept our faith as a matter of common sense.
While most of the Christian world accepted the existence of God and all that entails on faith alone (accepting an occasional Thomas the Apostle doubter who insisted on 'reasonable' proof) for those first 15 centuries, enlightened man now insists on reason, in the form of science, to justify belief.
How lucky those who lived to see Christ live and die and rise from the tomb. They experienced proof positive and didn't need to rely on faith alone. Scientific proof if ever there was any.
How nice it would be if we had a similar scientific proof to justify our faith.
But wait...what is that I hear...the angel's trumpet announcing that God has provided man with just such a scientific proof? And, it has been with us since Christ rose from the dead and it has withstood modern man's science to reveal the truth of faith?

The more science examines the shroud, the more its authenticity is established. It is as if God, in His infinite wisdom, has provided his greatest creature the ability to use his greatest attribute, reason, to prove the verity of faith. A celestial jigsaw puzzle that solves the mystery of faith using the very tools man has used for five hundred years in a vain attempt to disprove God's existence. What a beautiful irony.

The Controversy of Virtue

The pundits are calling the Glenn Beck demonstration in D.C. controversial. It's billed the 'Restore Honor' (to America) movement and our elite 'superiors' consider this controversial.
Controversial rally...controversial?
It's all about a return to faith, hope and charity...if that's controversial, we are in more trouble than I thought, and that's saying a lot.
The mainstream media are calling the effort 'divisive' and 'racist' and anti-American and so on with the incredible insults.
The media refuse to give anywhere near accurate estimates of the crowd size, which is near 500,000. Half a million!
Half a million patriots who love their country and seek to wrestle it back from the progressive, fascist swine who seek to control our lives.
And, this is controversial.
When Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous 'I have a Dream' speech at the same location, there were 250,000 people present. The photo at the right shows the Beck rally. The difference between the crowd size at each can be seen at the left of this post's picture. The crowd between the two rows of trees was not present at King's rally. There were only trees there at that time. They were subsequently removed to provide open space, which at Beck's demonstration is filled with as many, if not more, people as are around the reflecting pool. Hence, double the number that were at the King speech.
Do you think the media made mention of this?
Don't grow a second head while you try to figure that one out.
Our country is in sad shape. Patriots are up against an almost total blackout in the media, entertainment and educational industries. They are vilified and calumnied at every turn, and are subjected to the might of the federal government and judiciary. Storm clouds gather and the outlook is bleak. I can only hope and pray that a rebellion is under way and that traditional Americans can reclaim their heritage before it is too late, before all is lost.

Pro Deus et Patria

Well...for God at least. The First Crusade started when Pope Urban II declared "Deus volt!"- God wills it! And off they went, the first Crusaders, to win back the Holy Land from the heathen Moors. They did it for God and fellow Christians, rather than for anything as mundane as a nation. It is time for another Crusade. This time to counter the evil which is spreading across the land. The enemy is within the gates.

The Moor in the White House closet appeases the heathen world and does what he can to flush the Judeo-Christian heritage down the toilet bowl of history. The Moors have infiltrated the upper echelons of government and have the sympathy of many high profile politicians and 'cultural' leaders and educators.
New York mayor Bloomberg wants a triumphant mosque at ground zero and calls critics racists and hate mongers.
Several school systems teach the peaceful contributions of Islam to world history while condemning Christian 'atrocities'.
Even the Fox news network is not immune to sympathy for the heathen. Fox's second largest investor is a Saudi Prince, hence the 'even handed' treatment such jihadist fronts as CAIR (the Council for Islamic American Relations) receive on that network.
Don't even think about the sycophantic hugs and kisses the Moors receive from all the other networks.
Hollywood portrays Christianity as the devil's stepchild and can find only peace and apple pie recipes in the Koran.

Shariah law is the law administered by the Moors. It takes precedence over any laws of the land. It is being applied in sections of Europe (Eurabia) where there are Sharia tribunals in the Netherlands, Germany, Britain and now on the North American continent in Canada.
Coming to America: already there are cases of it being applied in Michigan and New Jersey and authorities are looking the other way so as not to be accused of anti-Islamic hate.


The picture to the right is a Moor woman buried up to her neck and about to be stoned to death. Her crime was not having five witnesses to confirm she was raped, in which case Shariah interprets the action consensual and thereby punishable. Shariah is even harder on such infidels and miscreants as Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, women who refuse to wear a burka, young lovers, drug users, homosexuals, agnostics, atheists, and so on...what a treasure trove they'll find in the good old U.S. of A.
I sometimes think (perish the thought) that we Americans deserve what's coming to us, whether it be economic collapse, a plague, a meteor, or simple Sharia. We have turned our back on God; we have forsaken the faith of our (fore)fathers.
When I think of my country, I wonder, what country?
The country of the anointed one and Pelosi and Reid and the jelly kneed opposition?
The country that confiscates more and more of my money counter to the intentions of those who wrote the Constitution?
The country that allows the federal government to confiscate more and more of what private industry hasn't already been sold out to foreigners?
The country where millions of law breakers are allowed to cross the border and feed out of the public trough and those who seek to stop it are vilified as racists?
The country where its enemies are allowed to use the protections of the Constitution to unravel the ties that bind true Americans?
What we have left is a revolting development in need of a revolution. As Thomas Jefferson said once upon a time, a little revolution now and then is a good thing. But not for country.
In the end, the only concern of any of us should be: where will we be relocated to on the other side of the one way door to eternity. Matters of the soul are what matter. Will we be able to say we fought the good fight? Will we be able to say we kept the faith? Will we be able to say we defended that faith against the heathen and infidels, both within and without?
So, if not for country, what for?
Let's do it for the only One who counts. Let's do it for the only Truth that matters. Let's do it because...well, because Deus volt!

Friendly Fire

When the prophet Zachariah asked the Lord "What are those wounds in the midst of Thy hands?" the Lord God answered, "I was wounded in the house of them that loved me. I was wounded by my friends, who did nothing to defend me, and who, on every occasion, made themselves the accomplices of my adversaries." (Zachariah 13:6).




I thought of this recently with regard to the Church and how so many of its members seem hell bent on corrupting it from within, whether they be left leaning Bishops or homosexual priests or frustrated lesbian nuns who want to be men/priests and, of course, the "Catholic" politicians who support abortion and gay marriage and 'social justice' (i.e. redistributing the wealth of those who work to those who sponge off of society ), and all the cafeteria Catholics who pick and choose from column one and two and three as if they were ordering Chinese take out.
I see the Church being reduced to a small remnant of faithful and most of them will not be on the North American continent. Take heart though. As Jesus told Peter, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18).

On Rolls the Human Comedy

There are times when one doesn't know whether to laugh or cry at the happenings in the world around us. Our country continues its downward spiral from republic to empire to collapsed civilization. The messiah plots and schemes and advances his destructive agenda via thug politics and a complicit media. The opposition, mostly, baa and fret and baa some more.
More and more of the economy falls under government influence while we lose more and more of our manufacturing base. Government spending multiplies and the only ways to sustain the folly are to print more money and borrow more money and seek new ways to confiscate the workers' money, whether it's called a tax or a fee or a surcharge, etc.

We seek to extend the empire overseas at the cost of American lives and countless billions. (How about we brings the troops home and tell the moors that the next time any Islamic terrorist attacks our country, we nuke Mecca and Medina - for starts - to be followed by the capital cities of every Muslim nation on earth. Do you think that would get their attention while saving our troops and the incredible fortune being squandered on multiple wars?) We fail to defend our border and fail to educate our children in the history of their country and the truths our founding fathers and early pioneers espoused.
Meanwhile the public is consumed with Chelsea Clinton's million dollar wedding and what American Idol judges are leaving the show and whether Mel Gibson or his ex lover is lying and whether Sarah Palin's daughter should reconcile with her former boyfriend, the list is endless...while the economy goes down in flames and the American 'experiment' teeters on the mountain top.

If we are to seek diversion from the hell that awaits, we should at least do it in a way that resembles concern about a legitimate subject matter, e.g. how about the crook Charlie Rangel, a congressman for several decades who has evaded taxes, misused funds, etc. while in charge of the committee that writes tax law, and who is still awaiting congressional action after two years of investigating his ethics. He claims he is Innocent while most democrats including the anointed one want him to disappear, and yet the farce goes on without the public or media demanding justice.


What the hell.

I am at a point where I am beginning to lose hope that America can avoid the fall. Saint Augustine said to decide between the City of Man and the City of God. Perhaps it's time to make a leap of faith and go with a sure thing.
Jesus said to "Fear not for I am with thee."
With due respect, He might have added, "and let the chips fall where they may."

I owe the government $47,000.00. At least that's what I'll owe towards the national debt in 2011 according to the latest figures coming out of Washington, D.C.




You too. And, my better half and our kids and their kids and your's as well.

Haha all the way to the bank to draw on our vast holdings so we can pay off our debt.


Of course, the ammount will be higher than a mere 47K. The government always errs on the lower end when it comes to spending and debt.

Day by day and on into eternity we go, our debt ever expanding. Sisyphus pushing that boulder...

Good news on one front: scientists at the University of Kansas have concluded that life on earth is wiped out every 27,000,000 years, but we have another 16,000,000 years to go until the next time. Maybe we can get that debt paid off before then.

Enter the Dragon


Beware the Chinese dragon. Once it enters the home, all is devoured. The Chinese tell mythical tales of dragons devouring whole villages and then moving on to the next group of victims. In Chinese astrology, the dragon is the most powerful and crafty of signs. It is no wonder that China considers the dragon a national symbol.

The 16th century belonged to Spain; the 17th to the Dutch; the 18th to France; the 19th to Great Britain; the 20th to America, and the 21st will be Chinese.
So it is with mankind and history. Nations wax and wane as surely as the moon. They parade on the stage of history enjoying fleeting glory and are in the end devoured by pride and indolence.

China has overtaken the USA as the world's leading manufacturer. China has overtaken the USA as the leading producer of automobiles. China has overtaken Germany as the leading exporter. China has slipped past Japan as the number 2 economy.
China is the USA's greatest creditor and, de facto if not de jure, effectively owns America.
Somewhere in the next life the founding fathers and their brave minutemen warriors are crying. Are there tears in heaven?
As we Americans prepare to celebrate the 4th of July, how many of us will think but a moment of those who died for their posterity- we descended Americans?
How many of us will be prepared to march and fight in defense of our posterity in the coming debacle?

Mad Dogs and Englishmen

Today is the eleventh day of 90 degrees or higher this month and at least four more to come. Everything is melting, including my brain. This may explain what I've been seeing in the news in just the last day.

The anointed one has sacked the lead General in Afghanistan-Bananastan, Stanley McChrystal for airing his negative opinions of the anointed one, the U.S. Ambassador to the area , the Vice President, and various other government mucky-mucks to Rolling Stone magazine, of all places. The replacement is General Petraeus, also known among some of his former commanders as Betrayus. Reportedly, he turned over command to McChrystal after the success in Iraq. Petraeus wanted to retire undefeated, 1-0, and believed he would have ended up .500 at best if he stayed in charge of the Afghanistan-Bananastan war effort.
The three remind me of my childhood heroes.

Meanwhile, the cap on the leaking oil well in the Gulf broke off when the robot cameras crashed into it, resulting in more oil spewing into the water.
And professional escort favorite Elliot Spitzer, disgraced former governor or New York State, has landed a prime time job on CNN starting in the Fall. CNN staff are upset, especially the females, who are now demanding personal tasers.
All is not lost, however. California is allowing welfare recipients to use their welfare cards at gambling casino ATM machines. That's one way for the state to get some of the tax payers' money back.
Speaking of the Golden State, the California Medical Marijuana Club (I kid you not)
has announced a contest for the best pot. Prizes have not yet been announced
but I'm sure they'll be flammable.

Last but not least, police in Salt Lake City finally caught a naked woman who had stolen a car, twice. First the naked lady parked her own car and got out, stunning a man who was standing by his car. I guess he was paralyzed by the sight. She got into his car and drove off. He called the police and a high speed chase ensued. She skidded to a stop and got out. The cops chased her. She fought like a wildcat, evidently, and broke loose. (The cops later claimed she was bleeding and sweating and was slippery as a greased pig, their word, not mine). She got back in the car and drove off again. Eventually, she drove over an embankment and crashed the car.
Now the unbelievable part. She got out and ran for it, climbing over a barbed wire fence! The exertion took a toll on the damsel. She collapsed and the cops were at last able to cuff her. No word on how the cops got her back over the barbed wire fence.

And, summer just started. Wait until the dog days arrive.

Baa Baa

Thus spoke Alexander the Great, not a leader to be confused with our nation's contemporary 'leaders'.

Whether it's the anointed one giving a national address about the oil spill fiasco or the mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, justifying the building of a giant mosque on the site of the 9/11 terror act in lower Manhattan, ("We have to, to show we're not biased."), I am saddened and sickened, but not surprised by our leaders' inability to tell the truth or make difficult decisions. Our foreign enemies must be licking their chops at the ineffective leaders we foist upon ourselves.

The anointed one promises that the British Petroleum company will pay for the entire cleanup as well as pay all damages. Of course, either action would force BP into bankruptcy. Let's face it, we, the taxpayers, will pay. All the anointed one is saying is basically, "I will gladly give you a solution tomorrow for your blind faith today, and by the way, I'll need your money too." He'll eliminate drilling our land and chase after pie in the sky alternative sources of energy, all the while making us more dependent on the nations that loathe us. Some day, they'll turn off the taps, both oil and money.

Mayor Bloomberg is saying, "Just let the moors have their mosque tomorrow for which they will gladly give us no bombs today." Of course, after the mosque desecrates the sacred ground where 3000 Americans were killed by other moors, the present day ones will use the mosque to teach the young'uns how to set the subway system on fire the day after tomorrow.

How the hell did we end up with such dishonest and un-American people in charge of our governments?
Unless there is an uprising in the near future, America is doomed. Maybe we deserve what we get. Maybe there's nothing we can do. I sure hope I am wrong, but things are beginning to spin out of control. Another disaster or two - natural or man made - and we may end up beyond the point of no return.
It may soon be time to head for the hills. Be prepared. The barbarians creep closer and our leaders sell their souls along with our future.

Your Other Face

The anointed one in DC condemns those who bring anger and division into the political debate. He yearns for a civil discourse. Yesterday, he told an interviewer (soft ball lobber Matt Lauer of NBC) that he was looking to find someone whose ass he could kick, over the Gulf oil spill. Ah, more civil discourse from the great uniter. (Matt Lauer recently made news when an adulterous affair was revealed. Of course, he blithely cavorts as if it's of no consequence in revealing his character.)
Today's news brings notice that the USC football program has been suspended from post season Bowl appearances for two years and has had twenty athletic scholarships eliminated. (They'll only be able to offer 5980 next season.) This is due to some players getting financial support from Alumni Boosters back in 2004-05. Of course, the head coach at the time and, until the end of last season,Pete Carroll has left the school and assumed the head coaching job with the Seattle NFL team. No doubt a reward for his duplicity. "We run an honest program."

And the sad news recently that the great college basketball coach, John Wooden, passed away. He won a record 10 NCAA championships at UCLA. During that time many of his players received financial and other material considerations from a sports booster named Papa Sam Gilbert. UCLA was never disciplined. The great coach made like the famous monkeys and had plausible deniability.
We are all sinners and given to prevarication on occasion, yet wouldn't it be sweet to address the hypocrisy in our nation's news makers? We should have a national ombudsman in charge of conducting public floggings of public personalities who betray public trust.
Shakespeare had it right when he said of man, "God has given you one face and you make yourself another."

Breathless

As Edmund Burke said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." We now have a perfect opportunity for an object lesson to demonstrate this truth.
Democratic candidate for Senator from Pennsylvania, Joe Sestak, admits he was offered a job by the White House if he dropped out of the primary against Arlen Specter. Such an offer is illegal and constitutes an impeachable offense.
A lone congressman, Daniel Issa (R-CA), is calling for an independent investigator.
Now the White House has enlisted that self admitted perjurer and impeached president, Bill Clinton, to say he offered Sestak an obscure, unpaid job on some White House committee if Sestak decided to do something else with his life.
The mainstream media, of course, is unconcerned. A few conservative publications are trying to keep the story alive. But it is the public which will decide whether the latest gang of crooks in Washington will receive justice or not.
Personally, I am not holding my breath that there are enough good men to influence the outcome.

The World Turned Upside Down, Continued

How far we've come. CBS has announced a new comedy titled "$#*!" My Dad Says". Of course, they have met some opposition to the entertainment industry's latest contribution
to our culture's death throes, but by and large they are being applauded for 'pushing the envelope' by introducing an obscene title to the lineup of one of the 'big three' networks, literally a contribution to our national bathroom humor.
Meanwhile, an 88 year old WWII veteran has been told he can't display the American Flag at the apartment house he lives in. It's against the rules.
One can hardly imagine the scene sixty-five years ago as WWII came to an end, if Americans were forbidden to display the flag while Jack Benny and Bob Hope traded obscenities. And what of those departed thousands who gave their lives on the beaches of Normandy and in the jungles of Guadalcanal, and in the air over Germany and on and under the great oceans? They must be spinning in their graves.
Let's not forget the latest insult to our great land. Yesterday, the president of Mexico - in the United States Congress and with the useful idiot democrats and the messiah applauding - criticized Arizona for enforcing federal law (via a state law), and returning illegal aliens back to Mexico.
This from a man whose country routinely jails anyone coming into Mexico without permission, and the useful idiots applaud!
Few in the media are reporting the fact that the state law is based on a federal law that the Supreme Court has already ruled constitutional and furthermore, the Arizona state law added extra safeguards to protect people from racial profiling. If anything, the state law is less onerous on illegals than the current federal law. Why hasn't anyone asked the messiah about that? Or his Attorney General who admitted not reading the law while condemning it, or the chief of Homeland Security who also admitted not reading the law after condemning it.
God save us from these fellow travellers and the useful idiots who support them.

No Moor


The New York times and the LA Times and MSNBC and the rest of the useful idiots are trying to explain why the latest muslim terrorists ( my words, not theirs) tried to set off a bomb in Times Square. His house was foreclosed,; he was under financial pressure; he missed his family, and so on.


Hey, he wanted to kill Americans because he was mad at our bombing Afghans and he wanted to make Allah proud.

He's a terrorist! A muslim terrorist. An Islamic, muslim fundamentalist terrorist.

The only thing he isn't is an illegal alien, er , undocumented vacationer. He is actually an American citizen. A home grown terrorist who, mirable dictu, isn't your regular homegrown terrorist, i.e. a tea partier. (As defined by the above cited members of the media).
And get this: The moors have been granted permission by the New York City zoning commission to go ahead with plans to build a mosque near the site of the World Trade Center. Duh!
Blood shoots from my eyes to the extent it hasn't bled from my heart.

More useful idiots all the time.

Coming to a Town Near You

The Greeks are up in arms again, although this time there is no Leonidas to save the day. Years of spend and tax and spend some more and then fudge the books for good measure have brought Greece to the financial abyss.

Because much of Europe - that wonderful post Christian continent - has their eggs in one basket, a domino effect is possibe. Look out Portugal and Spain and Italy. Tra la la la la.

Let's see...greedy bankers, greedy unions, deficit spending and outrageous borrowing...mountains of future unfunded debt...a public that depends on government for cradle to grave sustenance...my goodness. Am I talking Greek? Or American? All we here in the land of plenty are missing is the rioting.
Like the song says, our day will come.

Shakespeare had a different deadly sin in mind when he warned about tangled webs resulting from deceit, but greed will do just fine. Our politicians and bankers and corporate heads and welfare/race hustlers have all deceived us and we have floated along with them because it's easier to go with the flow than it is to try and swim against the current. Now we find ourselves tangled in a financial web of inevitable destruction. No one wants to do anything about, at least not those who are in a position to do something.

Alas, the fate of Greece awaits us. It's not a matter of if, but when.

There is no better example of his presence than the current mania among the secular press, atheists and liberal catholics in there effort to destroy the Catholic Church by their obsession over homosexual rapists among the priesthood.


Of course they don't use the word homosexual since they believe that perversion to be normal and a legitimate alternative lifestyle.


Instead they harp on about pedophelia which involves pre-pubescent children.


While some priest abuse cases involved pedophelia, the vast majority were instances of homosexual rape.


Let me make something clear: Pedophiles and all other homosexuals who rape should be put to death. The devil clearly works through such people. Yet, why is the Church singled out? Why are the devil's minions so eager to resurrect decades old cases? Why no attentiion to the many more cases of sexual predation outside the Church? Undoubtedly, the devil fears the Church more than the rest of the world combined. Hence, the attention.


Back to the devil among us.


Within and without the Church are those who work towards the end of the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church, or-if not the end- then a bending of the Church to suit their desires, e.g. female priests, end of celibacy, recognition of homosexuals, womens' right to choose to kill their babies, an end to sin and everyone gets to heaven, etc.


Those outside the Church take comfort from those heretical cafeteria catholics who willfully corrupt the Church from within and who insist on their way whenever the Pope and the Magisterium expect conformity to Jesus' proclamation "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

The road will be difficult. There will be times when blood will be spilt and hearts broken, but Catholics must remain faithful. It isn't all sweetness and tea time. As Jesus warned, "Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on, a household of five will be divided three against two and two against three..." (Luke 12:51-53)


In the end, the remnant may be small, but the price more than worth it. As to those liberal, cafeteria catholics who would tolerate the intolerable, they would be well advised to recall Revelation 3:16-17, "I know all about you: how you are neither cold nor hot...since you are neither, but only lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth."


Take heart Catholics, and remember that extremism in the defense of the truth is never wrong. Afterall, Jesus is the Way, the Life , and the Truth!

Alls Well With The World

Just from one newspaper this morning the following inspiration:


Elliot Spitzer, the former Governor of NY who resigned in disgrace after a series of adulterous affairs with prostitutes was divulged, has decided he is now worthy of reconsideration and will re-enter politics. As long as he stays in the Empire state, that's okay with me.


Tiger Woods, who makes Elliot look like Bing Crosby in The Bells of St. Mary's , has rejoined the pro golf circuit and is playing in the masters. He was magnanimous enough to give a press conference to explain how he had seen the error of his ways and was now happy to get back to pleasing his fans, not to mention earning more money to please his wife and 6000 gal pals.


And then there's Tiki Barber who recently left his pregnant with twins wife and their two sons for a twenty something news intern. Seems he and the blond home wrecker had been an item (furtive, of course) since the bimbo babysat for Tiki's sons.
Let's not forget Lil Wayne, the Lollipop Rapper who is serving time for gun possession. Seems he has drawn the admiration of fellow inmates. As one cell mate put it, "He's got the best job in the joint."

Best job turns out to be something called 'Inmate Observation Aide'. Lil Wayne is charged with the responsibility of reporting any prisoners who seem suicidal. For this he gets 50 cents an hour, a far cry from the $42 million he earned last year, but considered highly desirable by fellow prisoners since it is the highest wage available for inmates.
Finally, democrats in Congress have announced that the 'lunatic fringe' (i.e. anyone not a liberal or progressive) has taken control in America. The "wackadoodle quotient" , as Rep. Weiner put it.
Ah yes, all is well with the world. I can now go and enjoy a cup of home brewed coffee and read about how the annointed one is eliminating our nuclear advantage over the rest of the world.

Stranger in a Strange Land

So, the Speaker of the House wants to sneak through a monstrous health care bill (that would take over one sixth of our economy) so we can find out what is in it!!! It gives one pause...
Future, unfunded programs and a national debt so staggering the interest alone won't be able to be paid.
The near certainty that, before mid century, most retirees will have little or no income. (Of course, by then mandatory euthansia will be the law of the land for those no longer contributing to society, and most will be herded to the gas chambers to be put out of their misery 'for their own good and the good of the country'.)
Over 50,000,000 babies aborted since 1972 (and counting), and our leaders wonder why there won't be enough workers to support the system.
Unaffordable and doomed wars for democracy and nation building in places that have been ruled by blood letting tribes for ten thousand years and who despise Western Civilization.


I look about and am stunned with what I see. We have forgotten our heritage. We have forgotten those who went before and sacrificed for us, and in the process, we have forgotten how to sacrifice. Socrates spins in his grave and laughs. Was it he who said the wise man laughs at what fools cry over and cries at what fools laugh at? I am no wise man, but I find myself laughing a lot lately at what others are taking seriously and crying over what others are mocking.

Things once good, are now bad and things once abhorred, now welcome. We accept deviancy in the name of toleration; we dumb down education and equalize results in the name of fairness; we celebrate failure and moral depravity and condemn those who have the courage to judge good and evil and discriminate between what is right and wrong. We scandalize our children and pauperize our grand children.

On the funny farm, Americans are consumed with the NCAA basketball tournament and American Idol and Lindsey Lohan's latest stumble. Who cares? Tomorrow will take care of itself.

As the witches said in Macbeth "Fair is foul and foul is fair."



What has happened?

Somewhere in time, the world turned upside down, (as Cornwallis' band played when the bloody British surrended at Yorktown.)Now we have another surrender, only it's Americans going wobbly.

I had the great good fortune to grow up during the 1950s and '60s, when last the world was right side up. I grew up with loving parents who taught me the value of family and loyalty, and an extended family encompassing three generations and many friends, in which that love and loyalty was ever present. We shared a common bond, founded on the Judeo-Christian tradition, and exercised daily at home, in school, and at work. The tradition, and the values it gave us, were respected.
And, while all men are sinners, American society as a whole was at least in agreement about what was right and wrong. As a rule, there were such things as common courtesy and respect for authority-including elders. Such things as self respect and shame over bad actions. Such things as a sense of propriety and public manners.

In grammar school, I was educated by Ursuline nuns and Sacred Heart brothers who taught me the value of believing in God and the importance of hard work.

In high school, I was taught by the Irish Christian brothers in the classical tradition and received a better education than many Ivy League college graduates receive today.

In college, I was taught by the Jesuits, grounded in philosophy and theology, and prepared to deal with the business at hand in the city of man.


All the while, through all those years, I took for granted the way it was, never dreaming someday it would be mostly gone.


Now-the world fully upside down-I find myself (like the Martian in Robert Heinlein's great work) a stranger in a strange land. Over the past forty plus years, something happened. A lot of little somethings and a few big somethings. And I am as a stranger in my own land, which has indeed " become as a strange land of death and destruction."


Is it time to head for the hills and prepare for another last stand at the Alamo?

Hold the Cheese

After two hundred illustrious and bloody years, the annual cheese rolling contest held just outside London in the quaint English countryside has been cancelled.






A concern for the safety and health of contestants and onlookers was cited as the reason for cancellation.

As can be seen, the British take their cheese rolling seriously.




The proud winners of last year's contest hold their trophies aloft.



I am not sure why this story caught my attention. Yes, I enjoy eating cheese. Yes, I had been involved in cheese rolls in my younger days. Yes, the snow has finally melted and I can venture forth into the outside world, cabin fever having passed.
Maybe it's just this. Since most Americans are catatonic over the Oscars or the latest celebrity to slip on a banana peel and silde into the sewer; since most Americans are anxiously awaiting their next government fix and will stand by mute as the abomination in washington dc rapes and plunders the country's wealth and posterity; since we can expect a cataclysmic natural/ or man made phenomena in the not to distant future which may wipe out life as we know it.. maybe it's time to just chill out and start laughing. Now where did I put the cheese?
