Coming to a Town Near You

The Greeks are up in arms again, although this time there is no Leonidas to save the day. Years of spend and tax and spend some more and then fudge the books for good measure have brought Greece to the financial abyss.

Because much of Europe - that wonderful post Christian continent - has their eggs in one basket, a domino effect is possibe. Look out Portugal and Spain and Italy. Tra la la la la.

Let's see...greedy bankers, greedy unions, deficit spending and outrageous borrowing...mountains of future unfunded debt...a public that depends on government for cradle to grave sustenance...my goodness. Am I talking Greek? Or American? All we here in the land of plenty are missing is the rioting.
Like the song says, our day will come.

Shakespeare had a different deadly sin in mind when he warned about tangled webs resulting from deceit, but greed will do just fine. Our politicians and bankers and corporate heads and welfare/race hustlers have all deceived us and we have floated along with them because it's easier to go with the flow than it is to try and swim against the current. Now we find ourselves tangled in a financial web of inevitable destruction. No one wants to do anything about, at least not those who are in a position to do something.

Alas, the fate of Greece awaits us. It's not a matter of if, but when.
