Rue Britannia

Ah, a Royal wedding is afoot and I would just like to send my best wishes across the pond that separates our two great lands. Yes, the Royals, that quaint family of inbred racists who have wrecked such havoc down the many centuries since the fabulous Henry the VIII murdered obstinate Catholics and stole, strike that, 'appropriated' the Church's possessions.

Yes, the Royal inbred brood who pillaged and plundered and murdered various civilizations around the globe and deigned to teach the great unwashed ( that would be us) how to place their knives and forks and curtsy and in all other ways behave in a civilized manner. Here, here, tut tut and all that good stuff, say wot.

So here is my toast to the marvelous land of the Royals: May thee sink beneath the waves.

The Sound of Closed Mouth Laughter

I grit my teeth through clenched lips and still I laugh. Oh, the humanity and humanity's' earnest stupidity. Sometimes I wonder why I bother to read the headlines. After a while the cycle repeats and the theme plays on like the four beat drumming of rock and roll, always different and always the same. But I have a morbid curiosity and can't help myself.

I note the dollar is down, but fear not, gold, silver, oil and foodstuffs are all up.

The International Monetary Fund now states that China will overtake the US of A as the world's number one economy by 2016. Just think: whoever gets elected in 2012 will have the distinction of being the president who was scratching his ass in the White House when our sweet land of liberty's century came to an end.

Western leaders ( you know, the leaders of Christian Europe), have called for the assassination of the leader of Lybia, Qaddafi. He's a tyrant, after all.

Meanwhile, the Royals of British acclaim are having a wedding and the guest lists includes such luminaries (make that tyrants) as the Crown Prince of Bahrain and King Msuat1 III of Swaziland.

Not to be outdone, US Senator John McCain is whooping it up in Lybia with the anti Qaddafi forces (which are called rebels but in fact are mostly made up of Muslim terrorists from the Muslim Brotherhood and even al queda! Don't mention their up to now war on America. McCain calls them rebels and says they may even pay us back our war expenses for helping them overthrow Qaddafi and I have a bridge I want to sell to McCain he can use back home in the painted desert of .

Fear not. All is not lost. On Easter Sunday lightning hit the White House. Fortunately, maximum leader was out on the links or maybe combing the beach down Rio way. Whatever.

An Easter Rememberance

It was Easter 1916 and the boys in green were up to no good. No good, that is, if you were bloody British.

As we celebrate the true Church's greatest holiday, I pause and give thanks to my Irish fore bearers who rebelled against British tyranny on that Easter Sunday so many years ago. And, in passing, thanks to all the rebels who have ever stood against tyranny from Spartacus to Patrick Henry down the centuries. If only we had their like today in this forlorn America.

Perhaps some day. As the poet Yeats wrote, "Too long a sacrifice can make a stone of the heart. O, when may it suffice? That is heaven's part...". http://www.online-literature.com/donne/779/

Our part...well, time will tell, although I fear time is a wasting for this great land of ours.

Freedom of Speech, a Good Idea, but...

Once upon a time there was a congressman from South Carolina who I admired. He led the impeachment charge against Bill Clinton. Then the congressman grew ever more ambitious and compromised in his ways and became a United States senator. He calls himself Lindsey Graham. I call him hypocrite. I also call him other things, but hypocrite is sufficient. Recently, a Christian heretic down in Florida burned a copy of the Koran to protest those useful idiots who insist Islam is a religion of peace. Overseas, some practitioners of that peaceful religion butchered several innocent victims to protest the Christian heretic's protest. In one case a book was burned and in the other case several human beings were savagely murdered. You can decide which protesters were worse. Lindsey Graham decided the book burning heretic was. He went on to pontificate about how freedom of speech was a good idea, but maybe the book burner went too far and maybe something should be done about it. (God forbid Lindsey baby should think something should be done about murdering terrorists.) Graham wasn't the only so called American politician to blame the heretic down south for the murders. Senate leader Harry Reid joined in saying the matter needed to be looked into, that is to say, perhaps there are exceptions to the 'idea' of freedom of speech. None of these politicians admitted that freedom of speech is a constitutional right, just a 'good idea'. Holy crap! Next thing you know, Lindsey and Harry will be offering a resolution congratulating Communist China for their 'good idea' of what constitutes free speech.

George Orwell must be spinning in his grave from an overdose of hysterical laughter.

I don't know which will happen first, America going broke or America going despotic, but we on the path to each.
