It was Easter 1916 and the boys in green were up to no good. No good, that is, if you were bloody British.
As we celebrate the true Church's greatest holiday, I pause and give thanks to my Irish fore bearers who rebelled against British tyranny on that Easter Sunday so many years ago. And, in passing, thanks to all the rebels who have ever stood against tyranny from Spartacus to Patrick Henry down the centuries. If only we had their like today in this forlorn America.
Perhaps some day. As the poet Yeats wrote, "Too long a sacrifice can make a stone of the heart. O, when may it suffice? That is heaven's part...". http://www.online-literature.com/donne/779/
Our part...well, time will tell, although I fear time is a wasting for this great land of ours.
