As Franz Fanon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frantz_Fanon wrote, the power of cognitive dissonance is extreme. It
keeps people comfortable and safe from threatening information. Most
Americans find the government’s lies preferable to the truth. They don’t
want to be unplugged from what one writer refers to as the Matrix, in homage to the movie of the same name.

The truth is too uncomfortable
for emotionally and mentally weak Americans.
I have come to the conclusion that either I am crazy or we are doomed. Some choice to choose from. Time will tell which it is; of course both could be true and, then again, neither.
If I were a betting man through, I'd pick at least one and probably both.
Before we know it, election day will be here and we have two evils to choose from, just the way the masters of the matrix have arranged. It does not matter which candidate wins. We will continue to squander men, women, children and national treasure in foreign wars all in the name of forcing our version of democracy down the throats of people who want nothing to do with us.
We will continue to spend like drunken sailors (apologies to drunken sailors) and print Monopoly money (apologies to Monopoly) thereby shoving our posterity's future over a financial cliff and into the abyss.
All the while we drug ourselves with mindless entertainment and tawdry gossip and succumb to the propagandist drivel of phoney newsmen and political commentators.
Then, just as I am beginning to get depressed, some humorous relief falls from heaven like a gentle rain on a parched land. I read where the UN has issued a resolution calling for the federal government's Department of Interior, to return all Indian lands to the present day Native Americans, including Mount Rushmore.
I wonder if the Democrat's candidate for the Senate from Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren, will claim a few acres. Seems she has claimed minority status since college days on the 'belief' she is 1/32 Cherokee. This belief is due to her grandma remarking to Elizabeth when Elizabeth was a wee toddler that some family members had high cheekbones "just like the Indians".
According to Elizabeth, as an adult she wanted to be liked so she started saying she was part Indian based on her grandma's remark.
Wanted to be liked?
How about wanted to milk the group right's system of rewards and rip off some affirmative action goodies as a 'minority'? Special preference in college admissions...special consideration in the government hiring process...bonus contracts in business dealings and banking issues...and so on.
Yet, I don't hear the media howling for her scalp.
Imagine if some true conservative was in the same situation?
I say: give it all back to the Indians. A bunch of unwashed, uneducated, unmannered redskins couldn't bollix it up any more than it already is.
